Sanjay Pera News is more than the name of a media platform. It represents the life, work and legacy of Late Sanjay Kumar Sharma, popularly known as Sanjay Pera.
Sanjay Pera was a respected journalist whose identity was closely connected with journalism, public service and the everyday concerns of ordinary people. His work and relationship with the people of Siliguri created a legacy that continues to inspire the present generation of the organisation.
Following his passing on 3 January 2025, his son, Chetan Sharma, made the life-changing decision to carry forward his father’s name and journalistic legacy.

Chetan Sharma, professionally known as Chetan Sanjay Pera, is a journalist, ground reporter, host and media entrepreneur based in Siliguri. He is the Director of Sanjay Pera Media Private Limited and the person leading the editorial and strategic growth of Sanjay Pera News.
Before entering full-time journalism, Chetan Sharma was a practising advocate. His legal background helped him develop a deeper understanding of law, administration, public institutions and social issues.
Instead of merely retaining his father’s name, Chetan transformed that legacy into an active digital news organisation. His mission is to build SP News into one of West Bengal’s most dependable and people-focused digital news platforms while ensuring that the name and values of Late Sanjay Pera continue to inspire its journalism.
