New Delhi, July 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has thanked youngsters for sharing their suggestions and responding positively to his recent video message concerning the government’s action against examination paper leaks.
In a message shared on Instagram, the Prime Minister said he appreciated the response received from young people following his interaction with them late at night. He also thanked viewers for offering what he described as “insightful suggestions.”
Modi said the continued support and participation of young citizens were strengthening his connection with them and making the interaction more active.
The message came amid nationwide discussion over alleged irregularities in NEET-UG 2026 and growing demands for stronger safeguards to protect the integrity of public examinations.
Government proposes fast-track courts
In his earlier video message, Prime Minister Modi announced that the authorities had been directed to establish fast-track courts for paper leak cases.
The proposed mechanism is intended to accelerate investigations and court proceedings while ensuring time-bound action against individuals and organised networks involved in examination malpractice.
Modi said paper leaks were not an ordinary issue, as such incidents cause serious distress to lakhs of students and their families. He maintained that protecting the education, welfare and future of young people remained a top priority for the government.
According to the Prime Minister, several people allegedly involved in the recent examination irregularities had already been arrested and sent to jail. However, he indicated that arrests alone would not be sufficient and that stronger institutional and legal measures were required.
Cabinet approves draft anti-paper leak Bill
The Union Cabinet has since approved a draft Bill proposing fast-track courts and stricter punishment for paper leaks and examination malpractices.
The Cabinet meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Parliament House complex. The proposed legislation is expected to be introduced in Parliament during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
The draft aims to provide a stronger legal framework for investigating paper leak cases, conducting speedy trials and imposing stringent penalties on offenders.
The government has said that suggestions from Cabinet members would be incorporated before the legislation is given its final shape and taken up in Parliament.
PM says offenders will not be spared
Addressing students and their families, Modi said the government had mobilised its resources to conduct the examination again within a short period so that students would not lose an academic year.
He stated that nearly 22 lakh candidates appeared for the examination and that the results were subsequently declared on July 19.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the government would continue taking action beyond the completion of the examination process.
“Nothing is more important than the welfare and future of our youth,” Modi said, adding that those attempting to damage the future of students would not be spared.
Political debate continues
The developments come amid continuing protests and political debate over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak.
Opposition parties and protesters have demanded accountability, comprehensive examination reforms and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The issue has also been raised during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
While the Centre has highlighted arrests, the re-examination process and the proposed legislation, protesters continue to seek wider reforms to prevent similar incidents and restore students’ confidence in the examination system.
